Often technical (architect/engineers) and commerce graduate are focused on core jobs i.e., designing, structural detailing, site supervision, surveying, preparing/auditing accounts etc., which are routine jobs with standard career growth. RICS School of Built Environment helps technical and non-technical graduates in developing a broader vision and exposes them to a dynamic world of techno-managerial roles through its business management courses. Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is a professional body with members across 150 countries and is known for bringing professional standards such as International Construction Measurement Standards, International Valuation Standards, International Ethics Standards, International Property Measurement Standards and many more. RICS works in close collaboration with leading professional bodies, central banks and international organizations such as The United Nations, World Bank and The European Union.

RICS also provides accreditation to leading Real Estate, Infrastructure and Construction Management courses run by Universities globally.

RICS started its first Global School in India in 2013 – RICS School of Built Environment (RICS SBE) in collaboration with Amity University, India’s largest non-for-profit University, with the following objectives:

Feasibility Stage

A very important and interesting travel oriented desk job where project conceptualization and planning takes shape. Professionals take decisions on project type, size, product, pricing, and financial returns decisions.

Lan Acquisition and Due Diligence Stage

Professionals are expected to ensure acquisition of clear title land for project at a suitable price in different situations i.e. city center, prime locations, suburban locations, country sides, industrial estates, special economic zones, hills, special project locations etc. Good quality land with clear title and entitlements is the foundation for any project.

Design and Development

Professionals are expected to advise design teams (architects, engineers and projects managers) on market demand & dynamics of real estate products, pricing, sizes, marketing, delivery timelines, project amenities, expected unique propositions to ensure wining project design within expected cost estimates and project schedule.

Construction

Construction has two components r any commercial project in real estate industry. One component is managed out of corporate office and another is managed at construction site.  Real estate professional work in close co-ordination with construction professionals and technical consultants at this stage. Site management is usually dominated by construction project manager and technical professionals. This phase usually last for 3-5 years for a project.

Operations and Maintenance

Modern buildings have economic life of approx. 60-80 years and require active management for leasing, sales, facilities management, corporate real estate management. Modern buildings are complex and are fitted with high technology systems. These systems need to be looked after or enhanced economic life and return on investment.
