Dr. Joseph V. Thanikal has joined us as the new Associate Dean and Director, School of Construction, Noida campus
Professor Dr. Joseph V. Thanikal is currently the Head of Built and Natural Environment and Research Professor Caledonian College of Engineering, Muscat and is an accomplished academician / researcher. He has also been successfully running an RICS accredited programme in Muscat. DTV Raghu Rama Swamy MRICS who is currently the Acting Dean of School of Construction will pass on this responsibility to him in July this year.
Dr. Thanikal brings with him a vast and rich experience of 20+ years in the industry. He was earlier the Dean of Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore. He has also been Head of School of Built and Natural Environment, and Research professor at Caledonian College of Engineering (University College) affiliated to Glasgow Caledonian UK.
He has served as chair of building committees like Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON), Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, lifetime member of Association of Consulting Civil Engineers, Canadian Council of Professional Engineers, Program reviewer Ministry of Higher Education, Sultanate of Oman and Chair of Specialist group of International Water Association (IWA), UK and fellow member of IWA. He has to his credit accrediting programs at Caledonian by CIOB, UK.
Joseph started his career as a construction engineer soon after his graduation from Manipal Institute of Technology and then turned to be an academician. He was a structural consultant in parallel and has designed and built residential, commercial and industrial buildings. A National award for innovative research in engineering was conferred to him by Indian Society of Technical Education and Patent by WIPO. He has been the principal investigator for Indo-French and French –Oman research projects. He has supervised number of PhD and Master Dissertation in Construction Management, Civil and Environmental engineering. He has an interest in waste management research that includes construction waste.
Here’s hoping that with the strong team of faculty that is present in the School of Construction, the School will be able to achieve new heights under the leadership of Dr. Joseph Thanikal
