With RICS SBE as delivery partners, RICS India is now offering short-term Management Development Programs (MDPs) for upskilling early managers to enhance their existing skills to bridge the enormous ~80% demand-supply gap in the real estate sector.

The programs are being offered across a range of skills including but not limited to Construction Project Management, Real Estate Sales & Marketing, and Quantity Surveying for professionals with three plus years of experience, specifically in the real estate development sector.

Two such Management Development Program sessions were recently conducted at Mahindra Lifespaces, Pune and Raheja Developers, Mumbai under the title 'Essentials of Project Management'. Both the sessions were custom designed by the School faculty, post conducting a need analysis and discussions with the organization’s Training and Development team and aimed at bridging the knowledge and skills gap of the participants in the Construction Project Management function.

At Mahindra Lifespaces, the program aimed to provide the participants with practical knowledge of planning, scheduling and contract management aspects as they apply to construction projects in a big way. Classroom discussions included concepts and application of time, resource and cost scheduling techniques for real estate projects, project monitoring techniques including earned value analysis and delay analysis, contract administration and management, vendor relationship management and dispute resolution mechanisms. The topics were discussed from the perspective of clients, project managers, contractors, consultants and vendors.

The MDP session conducted for Raheja Developers, Mumbai focused on functional areas of construction project management, real estate development management and commercial management of projects. The program key highlights were project life cycle and plan of works, design management, preconstruction planning, project time management, project cost management, establishing and implementing critical success factors for construction project management and a case study.

Participants from both the organizations treasured this RICS Program and appreciated the faculty from the RICS School of Built Environment. Mr Vinay Patil, Deputy General Manager – HR, Raheja Developers said, “The program content was insightful and training was indeed very well executed; we hope to do more such programs in future.”
