The School completed 5 years of its foundation on 10th April 2018. To celebrate this important milestone of our journey, a panel discussion was organized on the theme ‘Future of Work’ with leading industry professionals representing different spheres of built environment. The discussion was followed by cultural performances by students and faculty, ceremonial cake cutting and high tea.
The top management including Prof. KT Ravindran, Dean Emeritus, RICS SBE; Mark Powell, Executive Director, Product Development, RICS; AK Srivastava, Director & HOI, RICS SBE & ASUM, Amity University; and Ashwani Awasthi, Chief Operating Officer, RICS SBE took the occasion to walk down memory lane, while also reflecting back on the wonderful journey it has been – from just the idea of an industry-oriented institution to an institution that has already trained 1700+ students in five years, and more importantly is also being applauded, supported and respected by the industry for grooming professionals who are industry-ready from day one of their professional journey.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwani Awasthi, Chief Operating Officer, RICS SBE said, “Only five years into our journey, and we are being compared to institutions that have been in existence for the past 50 years. This very fact is the proof that we are making a difference and must take pride in this.”
Mr Awasthi also thanked the industry for being supportive towards the endeavors of the School, Mr Sachin Sandhir, ex Global MD – Emerging Business and Managing Director, RICS South Asia for being instrumental in the establishment of the School and the entire faculty and staff for believing in the School’s vision.
Talking about the future plans of the School, Mark Powell, Executive Director, Product Development, RICS mentioned it is really commendable for the School to launch two campuses in just five years. Mr Powell also revealed that RICS is keen to extend the School to Bangalore as well, with a new campus.
The highlight of the day remained the panel discussion organized on the theme ‘Future of Work’ with leading industry professionals representing different arenas of built environment. The aim of the discussion was to trace the contours of changing futures of work with the influx of new technologies, global financial flows, changing social structures, shifting supply chains, robotisation of labour, and the shift that has come in work cultures due to the combined effect of these factors. Throwing light on the topic as diverse as this was Dr. Ravi Sundaram, Professor, Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS); Neeraj Manchanda, Managing Partner, Neeraj Manchanda Architects; Mark Powell, Executive Director, Product Development, RICS; Ranjit Vishwanathan, VP, Digital Solutions - Australia & New Zealand, Genpact; and Deepti Agrawal VP Projects, Royal Bank of Scotland. The panel was moderated by Sunil Agarwal, Associate Dean and Director, School of Real Estate, RICS SBE, Noida.
Post the discussion, the mood of the evening was shifted to fun and frolic through cultural performances by students and faculty. The celebrations concluded with the ceremonial cake-cutting, followed by high tea.
